Porcelain
Veneers
Porcelain veneers are used to treat
teeth that are severely stained, worn, crooked, or chipped.
They are made of a thin, durable, custom crafted porcelain
that fits over your existing teeth like a contact lens. A
small amount of tooth structure will need to be removed from
the teeth receiving the veneers so the teeth do not appear
too bulky. Porcelain veneers can be custom fitted for your
new smile in about 2 to 3 visits over 1-2 months.
They are all hand made by a master
ceramist in a dental lab using only the finest materials
and latest techniques. There are hundreds of dental labs
that dentists may choose from. The experience of the lab
technician is critical for the porcelain veneers to be made
to the highest expectations of Dr. Grady and his patients.
Our dental lab is located in New York and is highly recommended
by the top aesthetic dentists in America. It costs a little
more, but we believe it is worth it!
No. The average porcelain veneer
will last around 12 years. They may also fracture under extreme
force such as sports injuries or severe trauma. Using your
teeth like tools- biting nails, etc. can also lead to breaking
the porcelain veneers.
It is critical that you come in every 6 months to have your new veneers evaluated
and to have your teeth cleaned. Gum disease and cavities can happen- even
around porcelain veneers! |
